Privacy policy
This translation is provided for your convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.
The essentials
- All your data stays on your devices. Plume works entirely offline.
- Nothing is sent — neither to the publisher nor to third parties. The Android app doesn't even ask for permission to access the Internet.
- No account, no ads, no usage analytics, no trackers.
- You can delete everything at any time, from the app or by uninstalling it.

What data, and what for?
The following data is created by you and stored only on your device, in the app's private storage:
| Data | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Photos of your book pages | Display the story pages | On the device only |
| Recordings of your voice | Let your child listen to the stories | On the device only |
| Child's first name (optional) | Personalize the home screen | On the device only |
| Parent PIN | Protect parent mode | On the device only, salted and hashed (never in plain text) |
| Settings (language, volume, timer…) | Make the app work | On the device only |
Android's private app storage is isolated: other apps cannot access it on an unmodified device.
No transmission, no third parties
- Plume has no server: the app sends no data, to the publisher or to anyone else, so there is no international data transfer. A story only leaves the device if you export it yourself to another of your devices (see below).
- No third-party SDK, no audience measurement, no ads, no advertising ID.
- The published Android app does not declare the
INTERNETpermission: it is technically unable to make a network request. - Plume's data is excluded from Android's automatic backup (cloud and device transfer).
Permissions requested
- Camera: to photograph the pages and cover of a book, in parent mode.
- Microphone: to record your voice, in parent mode.
- No other sensitive permission: no location, no contacts, no access to your photos — the gallery uses the system picker, which only shares the photo you choose.
Exporting to your own devices
You can export a story (Plume file) to open it on another of your own devices: for example, record on your phone and let your child listen on a tablet, where the file opens with “Import a story”. This file contains the photos and your voice: it is neither encrypted nor sent to the publisher, and it travels through the app of your choice, under your sole control. It must not be sent to anyone else (see the terms of use).
How long data is kept
Your data stays on your device until you delete it:
- delete stories one by one in the parent library;
- use the “Delete all my data” button in the parent settings (complete and irreversible deletion);
- uninstalling the app also deletes all data.
Your rights, wherever you are
Data protection laws (the GDPR in the European Union and the United Kingdom, the CCPA/CPRA in California, the LGPD in Brazil, PIPEDA in Canada and their equivalents elsewhere) give you rights of access, rectification, erasure and portability. Since your data never leaves your device, you exercise them directly in the app:
- Access and rectification: everything can be viewed and edited in parent mode.
- Erasure: delete a story, or everything with “Delete all my data”.
- Portability: export a story as a Plume file.
Plume does not sell or share any personal data. For any question: apps@accolades.io. You may also contact the data protection authority of your country (in France, the CNIL).
Children's data
Plume is designed to be used by children without collecting any data about them, including within the meaning of COPPA (United States), the Children's Code (United Kingdom) and the GDPR:
- children are never asked to enter personal information;
- the first name shown is optional, entered by the parent and kept on the device;
- child mode is locked: creating content and changing settings require the parent PIN;
- the app sends no data, from the child or the parent.
Security
- Data kept in Android's private storage (app sandbox).
- PIN stored salted and hashed (PBKDF2), never in plain text.
- No network exposure (no
INTERNETpermission). - Data excluded from system backups.
Changes to this policy
Any change to the app involving different data processing would be preceded by an update of this policy, dated and announced in the app, and would rely on your explicit consent.
